John Suckling (1609-1642)
More information here. I was already a big fan of his for being the author of one of my favourite little poems ('Love is the fart / Of every heart: / It pains a man when 'tis kept close, / And others doth offend, when 'tis let loose.'), but when I found out that he invented cribbage, I was lost.
